Google has added a new feature to their Blogger service that allows bloggers to have their own domain name associated with their own Blog. So instead of having yourname.blogspot.com, you can buy the domain name www.yourname.com and associate it with your blogger account.
Bloggers don’t have to worry about the structure of the site and even the links. You can buy your domain today from Google by visiting www.google.com/a, and you will get some amazing services from Google I already mentioned in a previous post.

Google has teamed up with GoDaddy.com and they’re now registering domain names for 10$ per year. Of course, you can get the domain name with GoDaddy for less than 10$ (6.85$), but what you don’t really know is what does Google provide with the domain you buy:
- The start page - A central place for your users to preview their inboxes and calendars, access your essential content, and search the web.
- Gmail - Offer email to your users with 2 gigabytes of storage per account, search tools to help them find information fast, and instant messaging built right into the browser.
- Google Talk - Your users can call or send instant messages to their contacts for free — anytime, anywhere in the world.
- Google Calendar - Users can organize their schedules and share events, meetings and entire calendars with others.
- Google Page Creator - Create and publish web pages for your domain quickly and easily with this what-you-see-is-what-you-get page design tool.
This is a killer idea compared to Windows Live Domains (which is free). Having like 200 Gmail Inbox with 2GB+ each would be much more worth those couple of dollars you’re paying more fore your domain name.

Soapbox and Windows Live Messenger users won’t have to exchange links in order to share a certain video. Now, you can click on Share > IM in the soapbox flash video player and it will ask you to choose which contact to share this video with. One you choose the contact, he/she will receive a notification alert that you are trying to share that video and you will watch it together inside Windows Media Player activities panel in the Conversation Window. Here’s a screenshot:

Mihai Parparita, a developer in the Google Reader service has come out with a new idea that really motivates readers. Now you can check your reading statistics:
Playing around with these ideas, I created a simple Reader “trends” page, inspired by Google Trends as well as the Search History Trends page. After showing it to the rest of the Reader team and a few other interested Googlers, I began to gather feedback and implemented it. Most helpful was when Jeff and Doug rolled up their sleeves and applied some of the same thinking that went into Measure Map to this new Reader page. This went beyond just making things pretty; they helped make things easier to digest and understand.
For all who haven’t tried yet Google Reader, it’s an amazing Feeds reader! Just like Gmail’s interface, it’s a cross-browser service that keeps you up to date with your subscribed feeds.

Today, Google has released a new version of Google Talk with minor updates.
The updates I noticed are:
- Windows Vista Support.
- GTalk will warn you if you’re trying to close a certain conversation when you have an active file transfer.
We will keep you updated!
You’ve been asking whether Google Talk will work on Windows Vista. Ask no more — today we’re releasing an update that makes it compatible with Vista. You don’t have to do anything — you’ll get the new update automatically — and whenever you upgrade to Vista, Google Talk will automatically work. We have also posted this new version on the Google Talk download page.

I am sure that so many of you wondered why Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 had Google as a default search engine.

What you don’t know is how Mozilla Firefox engine is benefiting from this “Google Search” default search engine. When you make a search with firefox google search, you get a long url containing a client parameter “client=firefox-a”, and if you click on a sponsored result in your query results, Mozilla earns a commission. With this agreement, Mozilla has earned $53 million in 2005;
With this technique, in my view, Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 was setting Google search not for the love of Google, but to find out the amount they can make out of this search tool. You can notice in the generated URL the parameter “client=ie7″. But it did not seem that profitable to them as long as Microsoft has its own search engine Windows Live Search, previously called MSN Search. In the latest release of Internet Explorer 7, this default Google search was removed. I believe that it wouldn’t be smart enough to make profits from Google Search when they have the opportunities to empower their search engine and earn full profits from sponsored ads.

What’s IDN?
First of all, for all who don’t know what is IDN (Internationalized Domain Name), it’s a new protocol which allows webmasters to own domain names in non-ascii characters. With this technique, webmasters will be able to register domain names in Chinese, arabic etc…
Internet Explorer 7 now supports this protocol as opposed to Firefox. I guess that we will have this IDN technique supported by all browsers a year from now.
Hurry up and register your Arabic or Chinese domain name. Being supported by Internet explorer before Firefox makes it a big deal!
